McKeown takes fourth seat for Sinn Féin on Cavan TC
Sinn Féin's Cllr. Brian McKeown has taken the fourth seat on Cavan Town Council after exceeding the quota on the fifth count. His running mate, Richard Cassidy, was eliminated on the same count. He follows Cllr. Paddy O'Reilly (FG), Cllr. Des Cullen (Lab) and Cllr. Patricia Walsh (FF) on to the Council. Indications now suggest that sitting Fianna Fáil Cllr. Paddy Sexton will battle it out with Des Crossan (FG) for the final seat. Though with Ann Reilly (FF) eliminated in the sixth count, the party is hopeful that Sexton will be brought over the line on transfers. Fine Gael Cllrs. Andrew Boylan, Jacqui Lewis and Terry Argue all look set to take seats in the coming counts. The seventh count is underway.
