Fleadh 2011 for Cavan?

Cavan will learn this Saturday, September 11, if it has secured its bid to host the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in 2011. The decision will be announced at the headquarters of Comhaltas Ceoiltóirí Éireann at the Culturlann in Belgrave Square, Monkstown. Cavan and Kilkenny are in the frame to host Fleadh 2011, which is estimated to be worth in the region of €30m to the local economy. Given Cavan's successful hosting of Fleadh 2010 last month, the Fleadh Executive Committee (FEC), in conjunction with the local authority and the Cavan Chamber is hopeful of securing the major international event for a second year. Cavan made Fleadh 2010 very much its own with many new initiatives including An Fleadh Glás - the first carbon neutral fleadh; accessibility and a range of other initiatives such as Fleadh TV online. If Cavan is successful in its bid for Fleadh 2011, preparations for the event will begin immediately with many lessons learned from this year's event. County Manager, Jack Keyes and chairman of the FEC, has said that the business community will have to fully support preparations for the event.
