Farmer undertakes heating system research
A poultry farmer is embarking on an experimental heating system in a bid to improve the welfare of his chickens while cutting heating costs. Typically the enormous commercial chicken houses operated in Ireland are heated by blowing warm air, generated by a naked flame, throughout the premises. Alo Mohan, a member of the IFA national poultry committee, however has invested in the latest indirect heating system by Cubo. It was installed in his Redhills farm just before Christmas. He has installed a gas meter for the new system and hopes to install a meter into another of his houses, still operating with the conventional system, so he can compare operating costs.
