U21s reach third successive final
Cavan U21s will meet Tyrone in the Ulster final next Wednesday night at 8pm in Bewster Park in a repeat of the 2011 final, which Cavan won. Brewster has been a happy hunting gound for Cavan at this level in the past three seasons; under Terry Hyland, the county have beaten Down, Fermanagh, Donegal, Tyrone, Armagh, Monaghan, Donegal and Derry, picking up seven wins from eight Ulster championship matches. Having ousted Ulster favourites Armagh at Breffni Park in the quarter-final, Cavan entered as favourites to defeat Derry last night and after overcoming a nervy start against a very negative Oak Leaf side, a goal from Paddy king - who made a tremendous difference when introduced as a half-time sub - helped turn the match in their favour. The Breffni support were livid with the performance of referee Eugene McConnell, who booked ten Cavan players in a very inconsistent performance. * Make your feelings known!
