Tender issued for Cavan-Longford bus route

A tender has been issued by the National Transport Authority looking to extend the bus route 975 between Longford and Cavan.

The route serves Cavan, Crossdoney, Arvagh, Drumlish and Longford, and is expected to operate to specified times on Mondays to Saturday.

At present the route is served by Andrew Wharton Coach Hire Limited.

According to the tender, the daily scheduled service kilometres required to be operated is approximately 615km.

The scope of the service is expected to comprise, but not be limited to, operating and maintaining bus vehicles provided by the tenderer for the duration of the agreement.

The successful applicant must also operate a reliable and punctual public bus services on the specified route, from Monday to Saturday inclusive during the hours of operation, anticipated to be 7:30am to 8pm.

They must also provide customer care, collect, ticket and reconcile passenger fares, as well as provide operational data to input to the National Transport Authority’s passenger information, journey planning systems and its contractual performance monitoring systems.

The duration of the contract tendered is for 36 months, and is subject to renewal.
