Environmentalist Duncan Stewart will host a free webinar.

Free Climate Action Webinar for Cavan Communities

This online event takes place on Thursday, September 10 at 7pm, and will introduce Cavan Communities 4 Climate Action - a new free, six-week training course being offered by Cavan County Local Development (CCLD).

Join environmentalist and media personality Duncan Stewart in a special webinar for people, local businesses and communities in County Cavan who want to engage practically on the climate and ecological emergency.

This online event takes place on Thursday, September 10 at 7pm, and will introduce Cavan Communities 4 Climate Action - a new free, six-week training course being offered by Cavan County Local Development (CCLD).

The course, which has been developed by a team of pioneering Irish sustainable community advocates and educators, starts on September 26, with two more courses planned in 2021.

In this free opening webinar, course tutors will outline the topics covered, and introduce how we can respond to the challenges in a way that will make our places healthier and more sustainable.

CCLD and Cavan PPN will highlight efforts to foster community driven climate action in County Cavan, while Duncan Stewart will be interviewed on inspirational initiatives and community actions that can be implemented anywhere.

“This course goes beyond just reducing our impact on the environment.” says Davie Philip of Cultivate, one of the course tutors. “Through community scale energy, zero waste, sustainable transport and local food and agriculture initiatives we can strengthen our local economies and make our places more resilient to change.”

Gavin Harte of ESD Training, another course tutor added, “We have adapted the course to be online, onsite and safe - we are inviting individuals and groups in County Cavan to sign up for a free place.”

The course will be delivered online with a Cavan site visit and a unique opportunity to visit the Cloughjordan Ecovillage in Tipperary, where participants will see real climate action projects that can help reduce their own communities carbon footprint.
