Tender issued for €7m Innovation centre

Tenders have been launched to construct a new €7m BioConnect Innovation Centre in Monaghan.

BioConnect Innovation Centre CLG is seeking tenders from building contractors to construct its new 1,639 square metre development at Armagh Road at Knockaconny. Driven by Monaghan County Council and founding industry partners - Monaghan Mushrooms, Manor Farm, Lakeland Dairies and Bio-Marine - the investment has the potential to create to 125 jobs in phase one.

Planning permission for the research and innovation centre was granted back in October.

BioConnect Chief Executive, David Macauley, stated: “This is a key milestone in the development of the project, which is all about engaging with local and regional food businesses and agricultural producers, together with entrepreneurs and investors, to drive the sector forward.” He added: “I want to strongly encourage local and regional contractors to submit tenders to build this exciting new high tech building, a key part of the region’s bright future.”
