New chair appointed to local education board

Sinn Féin Councillor Colm Carthy has been elected the new chairperson of the Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB); while Fine Gael Cllr Carmel Brady has been elected deputy chair.

The positions were filled during the ETB meeting yesterday (Tuesday), October 5.

They take over the roles from outgoing chairperson Sean Fegan and April Anna Barker.

During the meeting, Chief Executive of CMETB made a presentation to the Board regarding the board's Strategy Statement 2022-2026, which seeks to build upon the growth and development of the ETB over the five-year span of the previous strategy.

An update was also provided on the progress of significant capital investments projects for Ballybay Community College and Beech Hill College, Monaghan.
