It is with regret that we note the following deaths in our community over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Patrick J. Doorey

Castledermot, Co. Kildare (formerly of Castlepollard, Co Westmeath; Blacklion, Co Cavan; and originally of Dunmore, Co Galway).

Retired Sergeant, Garda Siochána. Following a long illness.Predeceased by his wife Nora (née Cantwell), parents Thomas & Margaret, sister Mary, and brothers Brendan and Thomas. Deeply regretted by his daughter Catherine, sons Aidan and Pádraic, daughter-in-law Antoinette, granddaughters Kate and Tara, sisters Ann, Kathleen, Chris, Carmel and Margaret; brothers Jackie and Michael, extended family, and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at Rigney's Funeral Home, Athy between 6pm-8pm on Monday (11th October). Please wear face coverings and adhere to social distancing. Requiem Mass at 11am Tuesday morning in The Church of the Assumption Castledermot (Church limited to 50% capacity) followed by burial immediately afterwards at Coltstown Cemetery. No flowers; donations please, if desired, to Alzheimers Society of Ireland.

Edward James (E.J.) Farrelly

Cusack Estate, Ballyjamesduff, Cavan

E.J. passed away, peacefully, in the loving care of his family and nursing staff at Cavan General Hospital, on Sunday the 10th October.

John Duffy

Lower Main Street, Ballybay, Monaghan / Latton, Monaghan

The death has occurred of John Duffy, Lower Main Street, Ballybay, Co Monaghan and formerly of Carrickavelty, Latton, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan, peacefully, at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Deeply regretted by his sister, Cassie Lennon, Lisquigney,Ballybay, nieces Mary and Martina, nephews Hugh, Joe, Seamus and John, nieces-in-law Ann and Moya, nephews-in-law Pearse and John, relatives and friends.

John is reposing at the home of his niece, Mary Lennon, Corvoy, Ballybay (opposite Tullycorbet Community Centre) on Monday, 11th October, from 4pm to 8pm and on Tuesday, 12th October, from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Ballybay, on Wednesday, 13th October, at 11am (In accordance with COVID regulations, the capacity of the church is limited to 50%).
