Patrick goes the extra mile for Bus Éireann

A Ballinagh man was recognised in Bus Éireann's annual awards.

Bus Éireann’s Patrick Gaffney was recognised with the Engineering Operative of the Year Award for the Eastern region.

Patrick was recognised for the leadership he shows in carrying out his responsibilities at Bus Éireann’s Cavan depot and was commended for the respect he has from both bus drivers and maintenance workers in Cavan.

Patrick was one of a number of the bus company's employees celebrated at the annual GEM (‘Go the Extra Mile’) Awards which recognise excellent customer service, community impact, performance and forward-thinking.

In congratulating the winners, Stephen Kent, Bus Éireann Chief Executive Officer said ‘’2021 has been a landmark year for Bus Éireann and I am proud of our team of dedicated employees all across Ireland who ‘go the extra mile’ for our customers.

‘’I would especially like to recognise Patrick, who has been awarded specifically for his demonstration of Bus Éireann’s core values. Patrick is commended for the role he plays at Bus Éireann’s Cavan depot and for his collegiate attitude to fellow employees in Cavan.’’

“2021 has also been a challenging year and I want to recognise the outstanding contribution of Bus Éireann employees in connecting people with who and what matters to them. The GEM Awards celebrate the exceptional contributions of Bus Éireann employees for our passengers, our services and for their colleagues.’’

According to a recent KPMG report, Bus Éireann employs 60 people who live in County Cavan, and transports 3,700 students on school transport in Cavan each school day.
