Cootehill apartment plans paused

The plans were submitted to Cavan County Council in November.

Further information has been sought on plans for apartments in Cootehill.

Galetech Sustainable Living Limited has plans to renovate a vacant commercial building at 67 Market Street and convert it into four apartments.

The proposed works will involve the change of use of the ground floor level from vacant commercial use to residential use.

Also included in the plans are alterations to the front and rear elevations, renewal works to the main roof of the building and internal fit-out works. Private amenity spaces will also be included.

The plans were submitted to Cavan County Council in November. However, the local authority last week requested further information.

The council has requested clarification on a number of issues related to the application.

Drawings submitted show the development extends into the first floor area of No 65 Market Street but this is not mentioned in any of the documents or notices related to the application.

Revised plans for the front elevation of the building have also been requested as the council says the current plans “are considered out of context with the streetscape”.

Among other issues, the local authority has also requested details of the landscape plan for the communal area included in the development.

Galetech Sustainable Living Limited has already been granted conditional planning permission to provide four new townhouses to the rear of 67 Market Street, Cootehill.

This would be made up of one, two-bedroom and three, one bedroom townhouses.

Planning approval for that project was granted at the end of August. The company says both projects would be delivered together.
