Funeral of road crash victim taking place tomorrow

Investigations are underway.

The funeral of the man killed in a road crash in Co Monaghan this week will take place tomorrow.

Peter Murphy from Stranooden died in the incident. He was driving a pneumatic, tired road roller at the time.

He was in the Shankill area of Smithborough when the crash happened at around 9.30am on Monday.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating the incident.

Monaghan County Council has expressed its sympathies to the family and friends of Mr Murphy.

He was described as a "colleague and a friend" and said the Councol's thoughts and prayers are with his family.

His funeral will take place tomorrow in St Michael's Church in Corcaghan at 3pm. Burial will take place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
