Prime land sells for record price

A parcel of almost 12 acres of land outside Castleblayney sold for what’s been described as a “record price” recently.

The 11.98 acres of land at Corlealackagh, Cremartin, outside Castleblayney went for over €16,000 an acre according to auctioneers Fee & Associates.

Located just off the main N2 road, the land is laid out in four “good size” divisions, all in permanent pasture.

Cootehill based Fee & Associates described the land as “suitable for most farming enterprises” but is “in need of extensive reclaiming works” as it has not been farmed in more than a decade.

However, the land’s prime location close to one of the region’s busiest roads and its 70 metres of road frontage may also have had a part to play.
