Major works planned for Cavan's Main Street

Roadworks are planned for Cavan town's Main Street which would see its closure overnight.

Cavan County Council has issued a notice on the proposal which would see the resurfacing of the busy thoroughfare.

It says it plans to close the Street from its junction with Farnham Street to the junction with the Dublin road from Monday, September 26 to Friday, October 21. The closure would take place from 7pm to 7am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights.

The street will close in phases to allow works take place.

Phase 1 will see it close from Farnham Street to beyond the junction with Cock Hill Street. It's scheduled from Monday, September 26 to Wednesday, September 28.

Phase 2 will see a closure from Cock Hill Street to beyond the junction with Thomas Ashe Street from Thursday, September 29 and Monday, October 3.

Phase 3 from Thomas Ashe Street to beyond the junction at Tesco from Tuesday, October 4 to Friday, October 7.

Phase 4 from Tesco junction to beyond the junction with Fairgreen Hill from Monday, October 10 to Friday, October 14.

Phase 5 from Fairgreen Hill to the junction with the R212 Dublin Road from Monday, October 14 to Friday, October 21.

Diversions will be in place during the works.

Any objections to the road closures should be lodged in writing with Cavan County Council no later than 12noon on Tuesday, September 13.
