It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Malachy (Mal) Sheridan

Kevit, Crossdoney, Co. Cavan

Peacefully at home in the loving care of his family. Predeceased by his parents John and Helena and his brother John Joe. Beloved and much loved husband of Annette and devoted father of Noeleen, (Martin) Padraig,(Annette) Fiona, (Míchael) Niall and Aileen. Mal will be very sadly missed by his loving wife and family, adored grandchildren and great grand daughter, brothers Thomas, Philip, Tony, and Oliver, sisters Anna May (Brady) and Gearty (O’Rourke) sisters in law, brother in law, nephews, nieces all his relatives and many friends.

Reposing at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Road, Cavan (H12 C821) this evening (Sunday) from 6pm until 8pm. The family request walk-through please and no hand shakes as Covid 19 is very much with us. Funeral will arrive to to Felim’s Church, Ballinagh, on Monday for Funeral Mass at 2pm and then to Lakeland Crematorium, Cavan for committal prayers and cremation at 4pm.

The family would like to thank each of you for your co-operation, understanding and support.

Peacefully at Cavan General Hospital.

Deeply regretted by his loving family, wife Eileen, son Brian (Caroline), daughters Yvonne (Jim) and Vivienne (Rob) and granddaughters Rebecca, Emily and Jessica.

Reposing at Clarke's Funeral Home Bailieborough on Sunday from 2pm until 6pm. Funeral Service on Monday at 2pm in Shercock Parish Church. Burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

House private please. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Patient Comfort Fund Fairlawns Nursing Home.

Bridget Shiels

3 Cathedral Close, Cavan Town, Co. Cavan, and formerly Cullantra and Pottlewest, Bunnoe.

17th September 2022. Peacefully, in the wonderful care of the staff of the Oakview Private Nursing Home, Belturbet, Co. Cavan, in her 97th year. Predeceased by her brothers, John and Thomas, sister Annie, nephew Sean and her parents.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving family, nephew Thomas and niece Mary, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Lawlor’s Funeral Home, Erne Hill, Belturbet, (H14 R583) this Monday evening, 19th September, from 6pm with evening prayers at 7pm. Removal at 10.30am on Tuesday morning, 20th September, to arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Bunnoe for 11am Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Brian Finegan

Donaghmoyne Road, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan

Peacefully aged 94, surrounded by his family at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Friday 16th September 2022. Predeceased by his beloved wife Alice Finegan (née Boyle), parents James and Mary Finegan, brother Pete, sisters Kathleen, Rosie and Delia. Devoted father to Seamus, Declan, Marie, Adrienne and Brian. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his family, sons-in-law Mick and Martin, daughters-in-law Mary, Sandra and Claire, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his residence (A81 P383) on Sunday from 2pm. Removal on Monday morning to St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross (A81 K253) arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Kevin Gormley

Late of Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, Point Road, Dundalk, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin

Peacefully, at home, with great dignity, surrounded by his loving family. Pre-deceased by his loving wife, Blána. Much loved father of Padraig, Cathal, Fergal and Gráinne. Sadly missed by his brothers Brian, Michael and Leo, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Kevin will be reposing at home on Monday September 19th, from 5pm to 8pm. His Funeral Mass will take place in The Church of Laurence O’Toole, Stillorgan, on Tuesday September 20th at 10am, followed by burial in Kilternan Cemetery Park.

Bernard (Barney) Mc Donald

9 Cherry Park, Clones, Co. Monaghan

Passed away peacefully in Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his wife Kathleen, son Brendan, brothers Anthony and John. Cherished and adored father of Gary, Olivia, Barry, Donna, Karen, Mark, Kevin, Louise, Ciarán, Marina and Alannah. Barney will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his daughters, sons, grandchildren, sister Sheila Friary, Rockcorry, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and by all who knew and loved Barney

Barney will repose at the family home (house strictly private please) with removal on Monday morning at approx 10.40am (19th Sept) to arrive at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Clones, for 11am Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in the Sacred Hearts Cemetery, Clones.
