Covid-19 vaccination centre officially opened

A new vaccination centre has officially opened at St Davnet’s Health Campus in Rooskey.

The Cavan Monaghan Vaccination Centre is offering primary and booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to the public.

The new centre became operational on Wednesday November 16 and was officially opened on Monday December 13.

The centre opens three days per week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday or Wednesday Thursday and Saturday. Opening hours are 10.30am to 1pm and 1.45pm to 4.30pm.

You can book an appointment or the centre also offers a walk-in service.

The COVID-19 Vaccination Centre began its journey in Monaghan in April 2021, when it was based in the Hillgrove Hotel Monaghan. It then relocated to the Glencarn Hotel in August 2021 and remained there until May 2022. Cavan CVC began at the Hotel Kilmore in April 2021 also and ceased as a static centre in June of this year.

It was decided nationally to move away from the mass COVID-19 Vaccination centres to a more localised hub and pop up model.

Pop up clinics were operational in different locations across Cavan Monaghan. A pop up clinic in Carrickmacross will continue to be operational on a monthly basis, while a clinic in Drumalee will operate twice weekly and a pop up will be held monthly in Ballyjamesduff.

The Cavan Monaghan COVID-19 Vaccination Team has completed almost 150,000 COVID-19 Vaccinations since the start of the programme. Most of these were completed through the vaccination centres in Cavan (84,975), Monaghan (57,979) and pop up clinics (6,069). A further 219 vaccinations were completed by HSE mobile vaccination unit. The mobile vaccination unit also visited homes, residential care facilities, HSE workplaces and Education centres across the two counties since the start of the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

Dermot Monaghan, Chief Officer, Community Healthcare for the region: “We are delighted to have a vaccination centre for Cavan Monaghan here at St Davnet’s. With three days a week to chose from, getting your top-up vaccines has never been easier. The HSE encourages everyone who is due their primary or booster doses to visit our vaccination hub at St Davnet’s to make sure it’s a happy and healthy Christmas for all.”
