Mixed weather conditions over the coming days but largely dry

Weather update from Met Éireann

Mixed weather conditions over the coming days, breezy at times but overall a fair amount of dry weather. That's according to the latest bulletin from the national weather forecaster.

Mainly dry this morning with bright or sunny spells developing. Some showers will affect Ulster and north Leinster. Cloud will build in from the west through the late morning and early afternoon with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle following. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees. Light to moderate westerly winds, fresher at first in the north, will later back southwesterly and freshen.

A good deal of cloud at first tonight with outbreaks of rain developing in the north and west early on, tracking southeastwards across the country and followed by some clear spells and well scattered showers. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees with southwest to west winds increasing fresh and gusty, strong in the northwest and west.

Sunny spells tomorrow along with scattered showers, mainly affecting the north and west, with largely dry conditions elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees but feeling cooler in fresh and gusty westerly winds, strong in the north and west.

Clear spells and showers overnight on Tuesday, mainly affecting the north and west, merging to longer spells of rain there with a chance of isolated thunderstorms and hail. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in fresh and gusty westerly winds, strong at times in the north and west.

Wednesday is expected breezy at first with showers becoming widespread over the northern half of the country through the morning. The showers and winds will ease through the day though cloud will build from the west with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle following. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.

A good deal of cloud Wednesday night with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle, most persistent in northern areas. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in mostly moderate west to southwest winds with some mist and hill fog developing.

Thursday will be largely cloudy at first with just occasional bright or sunny spells. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will become more isolated from later in the afternoon with more in the way of sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in moderate west to southwest winds. Largely dry overnight though with isolated patches of light rain and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees.

A mix of cloud and sunny spells Friday with patchy light rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in moderate southwest winds, freshening in the west later.

Current indications suggest that it'll turn colder through Saturday as outbreaks of rain move southeastwards over the country on Saturday with a largely dry day for Sunday with just some patchy light rain or drizzle at times.
