It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Gerard Patrick (Gerry) O'BRIEN

Carlow Town, Carlow / Mountrath, Laois

Gerard Patrick (Gerry) O’Brien, Blackbog Road, Carlow and formerly of Mountrath and Aherlow, passed away peacefully on 25th May 2023 at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny surrounded by his loving family and in the tender care of the doctors, nurses and staff of the CCU.

Dearly loved and best friend of Mary (Donohue), cherished dad of Ornat, Eimear, Róisín and Máiréad, and adored granddad of Aisling, Finn, Isobel, Laoise, Sinéad, Conn, Niamh, Aoife, Jimmy and Tadhg.

Gerry will be sadly missed by his sisters Terry, Breda and Ita, sons-in-law, PJ, Jim and Joe, brothers-in-law, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his brothers John and baby Anthony, his sisters Angela, Anne and nephew Lorcan.

May Gerry Rest in Peace.

Reposing in R Healy & Son Funeral Home, Pollerton Castle on Saturday, May 27th from 3pm to 5pm. Funeral Mass on Sunday at 1pm in St. Clare’s Church, Graiguecullen, followed by a private cremation.

House private, please.

Anne-Marie Islam (née McConnon)

Crouch End, London & formerly of Slieveroe, Stranooden, Monaghan

Anne-Marie Islam nee McConnon, Crouch End, London & formerly of Slieveroe, Stranooden died suddenly & unexpectedly at home on Saturday 20th of May.

Predeceased by her parents Frank & Rose McConnon.

Dearly missed by her loving husband Amino, daughters Mya-Rose & Leila, brothers Gerard (Jane), John (Sandra) & Paul (Colleen), all nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.

Anne-Marie was a force of nature & touched the lives of so many, she will be remembered with love by all.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Patrick (Paddy) Larmer

Marnaharn, Rockcorry, Monaghan

Patrick (Paddy), Larmer, Marnaharn, Rockcorry Co. Monaghan, Friday 26th May 2023 .Peacefully at the Lisdarn Unit Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Pre deceased by his parents John and Mary. Deeply regretted by his loving sister Maureen Mc Phillips and brother in law Frankie, niece, nephews, cousins, relatives and a large circle of friends.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Remains reposing at the residence of his sister and brother in law, Sliveroe, Stranooden, Co. Monaghan, H18H962 on Saturday from 11am until 9pm. Removal on Sunday morning to St Mary's Church, Corravacan, Rockcorry arriving for 11am funeral mass. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Una O'Reilly (née Scott)

14 Cappog, Ballinode, Monaghan, H18 YD53

The death has occurred of Una O'Reilly (nee Scott), 14 Cappog, Ballinode, Co. Monaghan, Thursday, 25th May. Una passed away peacefully at the residence of her daughter Majella and son-in-law Paul, Calliagh, Stranooden, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents Catherine and Michael, her husband Ned, her sisters Roseleen Mc Cabe and Margaret Gallagher, her brothers Tommy, Benny and Francis.

Cherished and much loved mother of Majella (Paul Swift, Calliagh, Stranooden), Catherine (O'Toole, Ballinode, Kieran), Brid (PJ Roche, New York, USA), Aine (O'Reilly, Carlingford, Johnny), Eamonn (Athy, Co. Kildare), Anita (Colin Harvey, Ballinode), Gary (Breda, Davagh, Emyvale), Brian (Ashley, North Coralina), Scott (Eileen, Carlow Town).

Una will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her daughters, sons, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Kathleen (Burren, Co. Down) and brother Jimmy (Mullandavagh, Monaghan), sisters-in-law Eileen, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, friends and by all who knew and loved Una.

Una will be resting at the family residence 14 Cappog, Ballinode, H18YD53 Friday 26th and Saturday 27th from 2pm till 9pm, family time at all other times please, with removal on Sunday morning at 10.30am to arrive at St Mary's Chapel, Urbleshanny, for 11.30am Mass, followed by burial in St Dympna's Cemetery, Tydavnet.

House strictly private to family on Sunday morning, please. Family Flowers only please, donations in lieu of flowers, if desired to Cavan/Monaghan Palliative Care c/o Martin's Funeral Directors, Newbliss or any family member.
