It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Ultan McCABE

Delvin Park, Ferbane, Offaly / Virginia, Cavan

Ultan died on May 29th 2023, peacefully at home with his family.

He was a native of Lisduff, Maghera, Virginia, Co. Cavan, was late of E.S.B. Ferbane, and was predeceased by his parents Ultan and Annie McCabe, and sisters Bridie and Liz.

Ultan will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife Eileen (Byrne), and family, Ann Farrell (Longford), Fiona O' Brien (Mullingar), Deirdre Hanamy (Corr, Ferbane) and Brian (Zurich), grandchildren, Seamus, Dillon, Aidan, Mae, Euan and Jerry, brothers Michael and Tommy, sons-in-law, Eugene, Shay, John and Anthony, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Grant Ultan Eternal Rest and Peace

Ultan will repose at his home on Wednesday (May 31st) from 5pm to 8pm.

Removal on Thursday morning (June 1st) to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ferbane where his Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11am, and may be viewed on www.ferbaneparish.ie .

Interment afterwards in High Street Cemetery.

Fran Brady

Ardlo Manor, Mullagh, Cavan / Clondalkin, Dublin

The death has occurred of Fran Brady, Ardlo Manor, Mullagh, Co. Cavan and late of Clondalkin , Dublin on 28 May 2023, following an accident.

Much loved husband of Rachel and father of Conor and Ella.

Deeply regretted and sorely missed by his heartbroken wife and children, his mother Bridget, his brothers Paddy and David, his sisters Esther, Teresa and Caroline. brothers in law , sisters in law, his mother in law Esther Mc Crann, his nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and all of his biker brothers.

Rose (Rossie) Maguire (née McManus)

Gurteen, Ballinamore, Leitrim, N41 D704 / Templeport, Cavan

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at Breffni Care Centre, Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan. Predeceased by her husband John. Deeply regretted by son Patsy daughter Josephine daughter-in-law Noleen son-in-law Philip grandchildren Derek, Niall, Philippa, Noelle, Kathryn, Shauna and Patrice, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives neighbours and many friends.

Rest in Peace

Reposing at her residence on Tuesday evening from 5pm until 9pm house private at all other times please, except for family, close friends, and neighbours. Removal on Wednesday morning to arrive at St Patrick's Church, Kilnavart for funeral mass at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. No flowers please, donations in lieu to Breffni Care Centre, Ballyconnell.

John McDermott

Dublin Road, Ballinagh, Cavan

John McDermott, Dublin Rd., Ballinagh (former teacher at St. Aidan's Comprehensive School Cootehill) who has passed away peacefully at his home on the 26th May 2023. Predeceased by his father Brendan, mother Tessie and sister Deirdre Dewart. Sadly missed by his brothers Brendan (Anne) New York, Robbie (Siobhan), Jarlath (Mary), brother in law John Dewart, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Finnegans Funeral Home and Crematorium, Dublin Rd., Cavan on Tuesday evening from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral mass in St Felim Church, Ballinagh on Wednesday morning at 10.30 a.m. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Nan McMorrow (née Brady)

New York and Garrymore, Ballinagh, Cavan

The death has occurred of Nan McMorrow (nee Brady) who died in her home in Poughkeepsie, New York, on Wednesday 24th May 2023. Sadly missed by her loving husband Pat, her adoring family; sons Michael and Mark, daughters Maura, Patricia, Ann, daughters in law and sons in law as well as her treasured grandchildren. Her sisters Mary (Fitzpatrick), Rose (Keenaghan), brothers Pat, Hugh and Danny (Brady), nieces, nephews and extended family.

Formerly of Tandragee, Bailieborough. Peacefully at our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his father, PJ, brother Andrew and sister-in-law Diane. Sadly missed by his loving family Mother Annie, brother Peter (Brigid), sisters Jackie (Patrick) and Bridget (Cora), aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and a wide circle of friends.

McCLOSKEY Brendan (Eastham Court, Bettystown, Co. Meath and formerly of Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan) May 28th 2023 Peacefully, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. Beloved husband of Margaret and loving dad of Angela, John. Deborah and Brian. Sadly missed by his wife and family, Angela’s partner Tom, son-in-law Andre, daughter-in-law Pauline, grandchildren Chris, Stephen, Ellen, Shane, Andrew and Tristan, his sister Ann (Slevin), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Watson Funeral Director’s, Dyer St., Drogheda (A92 W7EP) on Friday evening (June 2nd) from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday morning at 11am in Sacred Heart Church, Laytown (A92 PF20) Burial afterwards in Reilig Mhuire, Piltown.

Des McCooey Drumganus Lower, Broomfield, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan. Sunday the 28th of May 2023 in his 91st year, peacefully, in the presence of his extended family and in the loving care of the staff of Drumlin House St Mary’s Hospital Castleblayney.

Predeceased by his father Frank, mother Catherine,brothers Mervyn, Percy, Eamon, and his grandnephew Kevin. Deeply regretted by his sister in law Josephine, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, cousins, neighbours, and a large circle of friends.

May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Reposing at Corrigans Funeral Home Lower Commons, Castleblayney, Eircode A75E361, today Monday from 5pm to 9pm. Tuesday from 4pm to 7pm. House private on Wednesday morning please. Remains leaving his residence on Wednesday at 10:45 to arrive at St Patrick’s Church Broomfield for funeral Mass at 11am and burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
