Long spell of good weather set to continue

A long spell of dry and settled weather is expected as high pressure remains positioned close to Ireland. That's the latest update from the national weather forecaster.

Dry today with warm sunshine and just a little patchy cloud. Highest temperatures will generally range between 18 and 23 degrees, but slightly cooler in some coastal areas. Winds will be mostly light to moderate northeast or variable in direction with sea breezes developing in some coastal parts.

Mostly clear tonight with just a few mist or fog patches forming. Lowest temperatures will generally range from 7 to 11 degrees in light northeast or variable winds.

Another dry and mostly fine day is expected on Wednesday with plenty of sunshine and just patchy cloud. Maximum temperatures ranging 18 to 24 degrees in mostly moderate northeast winds. Slightly cooler along windward coasts.

Dry overnight on Wednesday with long clear spells and just a few patches of mist or fog. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light northeast or variable winds.

Any mist patches will clear quickly on Thursday morning to leave a dry day with lots of sunshine. Highest temperatures will generally range between 19 and 24 degrees, again slightly cooler in some coastal areas due to onshore breezes. Dry with mostly clear skies on Thursday night with just a few patches of mist or fog. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in mostly light easterly or variable winds.

Friday looks set to be another dry day with sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud. Maximum temperatures of 18 to 24 degrees, but again slightly less warm along Irish Sea coasts. Winds will be light to moderate northeast or variable winds. Dry on Friday night with mostly clear skies. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in light easterly breezes.

June Bank Holiday Weekend: Little change is expected for the Bank Holiday weekend with high pressure positioned near Ireland bringing largely dry and settled weather. There will be lots of sunshine and just a little patchy cloud. Afternoon highs will generally range from 18 to 24 degrees, warmest in the west. Irish Sea coastal areas will be cooler at times due to onshore breezes.
