WEATHER: Cavan's set for a typical Spring weekend

Today is set to be a mild, breezy and mostly cloudy day. There will be patchy light rain or drizzle during the morning, but more persistent rain will move in from the Atlantic during the afternoon and will spread eastwards across the province, turning heavy at times. It will be breezy with fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds. Mild with highest afternoon temperatures of 10 or 11 degrees.

The national picture sees the weather deteriorate a little on Sunday. Whilst there will be sunny spells, there will also be scattered blustery showers. Some of the showers will be heavy with hail, and a risk of isolated thunderstorms. Top temperatures 7 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty west to southwest winds.
