Cavan ticket holder scoops almost €3m in Lottery win
The hunt is on for the Cavan owner of the winning ticket worth almost €3 million in last night's National Lottery draw. The winning 'multi-draw' ticket was bought back on Thursday, September 13 in Cavan Post Office, and the €5,771,163 jackpot was split between two lucky punters who will each bank a whopping €2,885,581. The €24 multi-draw ticket was valid for eight draws. No one has come forward to claim the prise yet. The second winner came from the south of the country. The winning numbers were 2; 7; 12; 15; 26; 28 Bonus 45. Over the past 25 years, there have been 41 major winners in County Cavan across all Lotto games, with winnings totalling almost €39 million. This was the third jackpot that the post office have sold, the first one being in 1994 when the person won the equivalent of €384,429. In 2008 they sold a ticket to a €2 million jackpot winner. The largest ever winning bought in County Cavan was in 2011 when a jackpot of an astonishing €7 million was bought in Pat's Store in Kingscourt. The last big Cavan Town based lottery winner was local Labour councillor, Des Cullen who scooped €700,000 on the Lotto Plus in June 2009. Another lucky person, from Stradone, who didn't want to be named won €500,000 Euromillions Plus draw last month.
