It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Seamus McGovern

Ballymagovern, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim / Templeport Co Cavan.

The death has occurred of Seamus Mc Govern unexpectedly.

Predeceased by his wife Aileen and sisters Brigid and Peggy. Deeply regretted by his family; James (Linda), Maggie (Gareth), Helena (Darren), Andy (Aine), Rachel (Val), Padraig (Sabina), and Sarah, his brother Andy and sisters Kathleen, Rose, Eileen and Rita. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbours and many friends.

Rest in Peace

Reposing at the family home tomorrow Monday from 12pm until 4pm. Removal on Monday evening to arrive at St Patrick's Church, Kilnavart at 7pm. Funeral mass on Tuesday at 12 noon with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery

Tomás Caslin

Latt, Cavan Town.

The death has occured ofTomás (Tom) Caslin on Saturday, March 11th 2023, peacefully, in the loving care of his family and the wonderful staff at the Donegal Hospice, Letterkenny.

Beloved husband of the late Mary and father of the late Conor. Tomás will be very sadly missed and dearly loved by his devoted family, son Ruairí, daughter Nuala Caslin McDermott, daughter in law Rose Flanagan, son in law Eamon McDermott,sister Janet Sugrue, cherished grandchildren Síomha Ní Chaisleán, Béibhinn Ní Chaisleáin, Deirdre Ní Chaisleáin, Áine McDermott, Padraig McDermott, Sergei McDermott, and Alex McDermott, all his relatives, neighbours and extended family.

Funeral arrangements will be published later.

Maura Plunkett

Lismacanican, Mountnugent, Co. Cavan and formerly of Moynagh, Finea.

The death has occurred of Maura Plunkett on Saturday, March 11 peacefully at the Lisdarn Unit Cavan.

She is predeceased by her husband Harry, daughter Eithne most recently her brother Hugo McEnerney and sister Nancy Clinnick. Deeply regretted by her heart broken family daughters Carmel (Mick Haughton), Martina and Patricia (Cathal Reilly), son in law Tom Reilly, her adored grandchildren Ken (Lisa), Rachel, Paul (Breda), Darren, Celiene, Emmett, Ryan and Eimear her great grandson Harry, brothers Michael and Patsy McEnerney, brother in law Jimmy Plunkett (Marie), sisters in law Pauline, Maureen and Barbara, nieces, nephews, relatives neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

May Her Gentle Soul Rest In Peace

Reposing at Briody's Funeral Home Kilnaleck on Sunday (12th) from 4pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Removal from her home on Monday to St. Mary's Church Castlerahan arriving for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

House private please, family flowers only, donations in lieu, if desired, to Palliative Care Cavan General Hospital c/o Briody's Funeral Home Kilnaleck or any family member. Messages of condolence for the family can be left here.

Maura`s family would like to thank the staff of the Lisdarn Unit Cavan for the exceptional care shown to Maura over the last few weeks.

Ellen Whittle

26 Belgium Park, Monaghan and Doncaster, England.

The death has occurred of Ellen Whittle on March 11, peacefully, at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Mary and her brother Frank. Sadly missed by her sons Frank (and Alison) and Johnny (and Tracey), sisters Kathleen, Bernie and Mary, brothers Patrick and Gerard, her loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

May she rest in peace.

Reposing at her residence on Sunday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. House private at other times, please. Private prayers, for family and close friends, on Tuesday at 11 a.m., followed by private cremation. No flowers, please. Donations in lieu, if desired, to Crocus, Monaghan.
