Sheep bleats the odds!

A Mountnugent farmer couldn’t believe his eyes when one of his sheep gave birth to FIVE lambs.
What’s more remarkable is that all five of the lambs born on Peter Boylan’s farm at Dungimmon are in rude health and were up and about within ten minutes of being born.
The lambs were born to a Texel cross sheep and a Suffock ram the odds of quintuplets is reportedly one in a million.
“The ewe had them at 6am in the morning and when I arrived there and I thought I was seeing things as I counted them,” recalls a still surprised Peter. “We’ve had a few fours over the years – but never a five!”
Daughters Blanaid and Aoife are thrilled to help tend to the “very cute” new arrivals.
“Three of them have been removed from the sheep and they are being fed on Lamblac,” said Peter, “there are three males and two females.”
