Witness appeal following death of man in Monaghan

Castleblaney Gardai have appealed for the public's assistance in their investigation into an incident in the Carnaveigh area of the town yesterday.

The body of a man in his 80s was discovered on the side of the road at Carnaveigh, Castleblaney at 4pm yesterday afternoon [October 11].

A blue Opel Corsa was found crashed nearby. The driver of the car, a woman in her 20s, was not injured.

The body of the man was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where a post mortem examination will take place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have undertaken an examination of the scene.
