Man seriously injured in wind farm accident

A man who suffered “serious injuries” in an accident at a local wind farm earlier this afternoon was airlifted to a Dublin hospital for medical treatment.

The man, aged in this early 50's, was injured while operating a teleporter shortly at around 1.30pm, after which emergency services were contacted and travelled to the scene at Mountainlodge, Cootehill.

Gardai were also called to the scene, and the Health and Safety Authority have been contacted. They too are now investigating the workplace accident.

“We are aware of this accident, it appears that a man was injured while operating a teleporter near a windfarm at Cootehill today,” a spokesperson told The Anglo-Celt.

 

 

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana confirmed the person involved had suffered "serious injuries" as a result of the "industrial accident".

“[An] industrial accident occurred at Mountainlodge, Cootehill tis afternoon Thursday 19th July, 2018 at approx. 1.30p.m. A man (52 years) was seriously injured and was airlifted to Tallaght hospital where he is currently receiving treatment. His injuries are serious.”
