Gardaí investigate latest spate of burglaries

Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary where a house was entered by a man armed with a baton last week.

The incident occurred at a property in the Clonandra area of Redhills at around 12.30pm on July 23.
It's reported that two males entered the property, one of whom was armed with the weapon, only to be disturbed by the homeowner.
No injuries were sustained, and the men fled the scene.
Separately, a vacant property in the Tunker area of Belturbet was broken into between the hours of 2pm-7:30am on Saturday-Sunday last, July 28-29.
Gardaí in Cavan are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information who may have witnessed anything suspicious to contact them on 0494-368800.

 

West Cavan homes hit in series of raids

Two homes in the West Cavan area were targeted in a series of break-ins at properties across the region last week.

A house was broken into at Derrynanta, Glangevlin on July 23 last, during which cash and jewellery were taken.
A hedgetrimmer was, meanwhile, taken from another house along with the shaft of a hay-bob. The was matter reported to gardaí on July 24.
The incidents are believed linked to two other burglaries reported to have occurred in the Manorhamilton district in neighbouring Co Leitrim over the same time period.

Six arrested for driving over influence
A total of six persons were arrested in the Cavan Garda District over the past week on suspicion of driving over the influence. Five motorists arrested during that period were stopped on suspicion of driving over the legal alcohol limit.
One the drivers stopped was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
