Varadkar is Virginia bound

An Tasoiseach Leo Varadkar will be among the many thousands of people flocking to the 77th Virginia Show tomorrow.
While his predecessor Enda Kenny visited Virginia in recent years to open the Show Centre, it’s thought that Mr Varadkar will be the first serving Taoiseach to take in the colour and competition of Show Day.
Patrick Gaynor said that of all the agricultural shows it was great that the Fine Gael leader chose Virginia.
“He just rang us up and asked us was it okay if he came? I wasn’t going to say no, you can’t come to it,” quipped Patrick with a laugh.
“I’m delighted for the people who put in the effort – some of them for the last two months behind the scenes, but especially the people volunteering for the last few days – it'll give them a bit of a lift. At least they’ll not think they’re doing all this work for nothing – it’s appreciated by the top people.”
