Pauline Tully has been given the honour of introducing the Sinn Féin president Mary Lou McDonald.

Major Sinn Féin conference for Cavan

Cavan will play host to a major two-day national conference next month.
The Sinn Féin party is bringing its annual pre-Dáil term ‘Think Tank’ to the Hotel Kilmore in Cavan Town on Monday and Tuesday, September 3 and 4.
Cavan Monaghan TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin confirmed the news to The Anglo-Celt this week explaining that the meeting will include all Sinn Féin TDs, Senators, MEPs, MPs, county councillors and ancillary staff. At least 130 attendees are expected, as well as members of the media, generating a welcome spin-off for the local economy.
"I am delighted that our lobby has succeeded and that this year's Sinn Féin two day 'away meeting' or 'think tank' will take place at the Kilmore Hotel in Cavan on Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th September. This event will be attended by our Dáil, Seanad, Assembly, Westminster and European Parliament elected representatives and support staff,” outlined Deputy Ó Caoláin, who will retire at the next General Election.
Party candidate for Cavan Monaghan, Pauline Tully, has been chosen this year to introduce party president Mary Lou McDonald, who's expected to announce the Sinn Féin candidate for the Presidential election on the occasion.

Honour
"I am also very pleased that the honour of delivering the welcoming address to the event goes to Cavan's own Pauline Tully who with Matt Carthy MEP will contest the next General Election for Sinn Féin here in the Cavan Monaghan constituency," said Deputy Ó Caoláin.
The decision by Sinn Féin to hold the conference in Cavan is viewed by some political commentators as a major play by the party in its bid to secure two seats in the Cavan Monaghan constituency at the next General Election.
The selection of Cavan and Pauline Tully as opening speaker is seen as a real vote of confidence in the Cavan candidate to secure one of the five seats in the reunited constituency.
