Strypes take off with roles in Rocketman

Cavan's The Strypes are soaring with the stars having landed roles in 'Rocketman', the upcoming fantasy musical depicting the tale of Sir Elton John’s breakthrough years.

J&L Associates, run by the wife of Chris Difford, who in the past mentored the Cavan musicians, shared a teaser trailer for the film this week, stating: “Our clients Peter O'Hanlon and Evan Walsh are in Rocketman! The teaser trailer looks fantastic!”

The company previously posted on social media: “Very happy to have secured featured roles for not only JL Associates client, Pete O’Hanlon, but also the other three members of the Strypes, Evan, Ross and Josh who have flown in to London today to start work on a very exciting feature film due out next year!”
The band were subsequently photographed alongside son of Beatles producer George Martin, Giles Martin, at Air Studios recording “part of the film soundtrack”.
Up until now the exact details of what film the band members were working on has been kept hush hush. No details as to what roles the local lads have landed are yet known. Peter, Evan, Ross and Josh are bound by strict confidentiality guidelines while filming continues, The Anglo-Celt understands.
Having acted alongside the real Elton John in 'Kingsman: The Golden Circle', actor Taron Egerton takes on the role of the legendary musician in Paramount Pictures' 'Rocketman'.
It’s understood the film will focus on Elton John’s beginnings, as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music before continuing to when he reached global stardom through his enduring musical partnership with songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin.
Along with Egerton, 'Rocketman' stars Jamie Bell (TURN: Washington’s Spies), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), and Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom).
Directed by BAFTA nominee Dexter Fletcher's (Wild Bill, Eddie the Eagle) from a script by Oscar-nominated writer Lee Hall (Billy Elliot), Rocketman will be produced by Matthew Vaughn and his Marv Films alongside Elton John with his Rocket Pictures partner David Furnish.
'Rocketman' is due to arrive on cinema screens in May next year.
