Mary McKenna, owner of multi-million business Tour America, is one of the speakers at a special event to mark National Women's Enterprise Day.

From local to global at the Cavan Business Women’s Club

Mary McKenna, owner of Tour America, is the guest speaker at an event to celebrate National Women’s Enterprise Day today (Thursday), October 18.
‘From local to global’ is the theme for the evening and Mary has plenty to share on this subject with the Cavan business women attending.
Starting her business 23 years ago from her sitting room with a team of three, Tour America is currently Ireland’s number one tour operator to the USA, currently turning over €21m with 50 staff and offices in Dublin, Cork and Orlando.
Mary is also a finalist in the 2018 Ernst & Young (EY) Entrepreneur of the Year awards 2018.
Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys will launch the event. Other speakers include Cathaoirleach, Cllr Madeleine Argue and local business woman Ann Rudden of Áine Handmade Chocolates who will talk through her journey from manufacturing in Stradone to exporting globally.
This is the 12th annual National Women’s Enterprise Day (NWED) and events will take place countrywide aimed at inspiring the next generation of female business leaders to take their local ideas and make them a global success.

Biggest event
It is expected that this will be the biggest-ever National Women’s Enterprise Day with over 1,000 female entrepreneurs attending the 16 events that will take place countrywide.
Local Enterprise Office (LEO_ Cavan, in association with Enterprise Europe Network and with the Cavan Business Women’s Club, will host this event for over 70 business women in the Hotel Kilmore tomorrow evening (Thursday), October 18, starting at 6pm.
Marcella Rudden, head of enterprise, Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Cavan said: “From Local to Global as a theme for National Women’s Enterprise Day 2018 is very apt, especially with all the uncertainty around Brexit.
“We want to encourage more female entrepreneurs to diversify and to let them know that their Local Enterprise Office Cavan can give them the support they need to explore new markets.”
Last year, the Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs) provided training, mentoring and networking to over 18,500 female entrepreneurs along with providing grant assistance to over 280 female-run businesses and these figures continue to grow.
