In for a dip this Christmas

 

Brave souls across the county will break the ice, in some cases quite literally, when taking part in various local lake swims this Christmas Day.

Here's a full round-up of when and where these swims are taking place:

 

WHERE: Annagh Lake

WHEN: Christmas Day, 11.30am

WHAT: Join the many brave souls to take part in this popular Christmas morning swim (Cavan Icebreakers).

 

WHERE: Bailieborough Town Lake

WHEN:Christmas Day, 12.30pm

WHAT: This year is the 25th Christmas Day Swim in Bailieborough Town Lake. Over the years, many groups have benefitted from the proceeds collected. This year’s proceeds will go to the local Senior Citizens Day Centre Group. We are hoping that some of those who previously took part in the swim will return to celebrate the 25th along with many new swimmers. WHERE: Gulladoo Lake

WHEN:Christmas Day, 12.30pm

WHAT: Brave the elements for the annual swim in aid of the Irish Cancer Society, at Gulladoo lake at 12 noon. For more information contact Bronagh O’Rourke on 0870922363.

Hot drinks will be served after the swim!

 

WHERE: Lacken Lake, Ballyjamesduff

WHEN: Christmas Day

WHAT: Annual Christmas Day Swim at Lacken Lake, Ballyjamesduff at noon. All funds raised are going to the newly formed Ballyjamesduff Cancer Fund. New swimmers welcome and sponsorship cards are available from Paddy Smith who can be contacted on 087 6279510.

 

WHERE: Lavey Lake

WHEN:Christmas Day, 12.30pm

WHAT: Lavey Ladies’ 6th Annual Christmas Swim at 12.30pm at Lavey Lake. All welcome to participate. There will be collection buckets on the morning and all proceeds raised will go towards Virginia Cancer Care.

 

WHERE: Mullagh

WHEN: Christmas Day

WHAT: Cuchulainns Community Games host a Christmas Day Swim at 12.30 pm. Be Brave and help support Community Games and other local Charities. Sponsorship Cards from Mullagh Post Office or donate on the day.
