Feasibility study for Virginia Folk and Rural Life Centre

Over €5,500 in funding has been allocated to facilitate a feasibility study for a Folk and Rural Life Centre in Virginia under the LEADER programme.
Speaking on the matter, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys, said: “This funding allocation falls under the Rural Tourism Category of the LEADER programme, which is designed to support rural development projects initiated locally to revitalise rural areas and create jobs.
Cavan Local Community Development Committee administers the LEADER programme in the county. Minister Humphreys praised them for their efforts: “I would like to commend them on their wonderful work and commitment to continuously working with local stakeholders to secure funding through the programme.”
The role of LEADER in supporting rural development projects was also noted by the minister: “Without a doubt, LEADER plays a hugely valuable role in supporting rural communities in Cavan, I would like to congratulate those behind this project on the drive and ambition they have shown for Virginia.”
The latest LEADER programme, launched in January 2017, is part of the Government's Action Plan for Rural Development: “This funding allocation will make a big impact on the local community, and I look forward to tracking the progress of the project in the coming period.”
