€200k seized by gardai in Longford

 

Gardai in Longford have seized an estimated €200,000 worth of cannabis following the search of a vehicle stopped in Edgeworthstown yesterday, Thursday 7.

The stopping of the vehicle, gardaí have revealed, is part of an intelligence led operation targeting a west Dublin organised crime gang.

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Garda Special Crime Task Force were involved in the operation.

During the course of a search of the vehicle Cannabis Herb was seized with an estimated street value of €200,000.

A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene.

He is currently being detained at Granard Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 – Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

“Investigations are continuing,” the garda spokesperson added.
