‘Definite line’ after two burglaries in 24 hours

Gardaí in Cavan are understood to be following a “definite line” of enquiry after the home of an elderly person in the centre of Cavan Town was broken into twice in the space of just 24 hours.
The burglaries at Church Street in the town occurred when culprits entered the same residence twice between 12 midnight and 9pm in the early hours of last Wednesday morning, February 27.
A quantity of cash is understood to have been taken during the burglaries.
Gardaí are reviewing CCTV footage from the local area and are understood to be following a “definite line” of enquiry.

Church targeted
Meanwhile, a church in Ballyconnell was broken into between the hours of 10pm to 7.30am on February 26.
While those behind the burglary gained access by breaking through the sacristy door, there was no evidence of anything stolen as a result.
Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses following the theft of gates and an oil burner from an unoccupied house in the Beechmount area of Belturbet.
The theft is believed to have occurred between February 19-22.
