Cavan duo share €84,000 on Winning Streak

Two lucky Cavan players won €84,000 between them when they appeared on the National Lottery Winning Streak game show on RTÉ One last Saturday night (March 30th). And the county is certainly on a winning streak as another Cavan player was drawn to appear on this Saturday’s show.

Operators of the National Lottery have refused to provide figures to this publication on the amount of money spent by local people on the various lottery gambling products, citing “commercial reasons”, despite its de facto monopoly status.

One of the Cavan players, Martin McKenna from Kingscourt, scooped prizes totalling €54,000 when he played on behalf of his wife, Gwen McKenna, on Saturday. Not only did he win an electric car worth €25,000 and €5,000 in cash but he also landed €24,000 when he got to spin the iconic Grand Prize wheel.

The second Cavan player was Leanne Harten from Mountnugent and she won €30,000 in cash from the show. Leanne is a receptionist at John V. Kelly’s solicitors in Cavan where she has worked for the past three years.

Cavan’s Winning Streak doesn’t end there as Ballyconnell man, George Rea was drawn to appear on the show next Saturday.
