Anti fracking demonstration to take place

 

 

An anti-fracking demonstration is set to take place later today on the Cavan-Fermanagh border.

The protest will be staged on the border bridge between the two local villages of Blacklion, Co Cavan and Belcoo, Co Fermanagh. The event starts at 1pm.

It follows news that Tamboran Resources (UK) has applied for a licence to evaluate the natural gas in the shale and sandstone rocks in the south west of neighbouring Co Fermangh.

Tamboran last attempted to carry out test drilling in 2014, but faced widespread community and political opposition, a movement which continues even today.
