Pensioner aiflifted after attacked by dog

 

Gardai have launched an investigation after an elderly man was attacked yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the Seefin hill area, near Tunneyduff, Bailieborough at approximately 12:30pm on Tuesday last, June 11.

The elderly man, who its understood was in the process of going to check on cattle, was “seriously injured” that attacked him.

Witnesses to the incident say it too the effort of a number of persons to rallied to the man's aid to fend the dog off.

The man was subsequently airlifted to Dublin's St. James Hospital for urgent medical treatment after an air ambulance was dispatched and landed at Lavey GAA pitch at New Inns.

Gardai, in a statement to The Anglo-Celt, confirmed that the “dog has now been destroyed. The investigation is ongoing.”
