Hospital support staff strike deferred

SIPTU, the union representing hospital support staff have confirmed that three days of strick action planned for July 3, 4 and 5, has been deferred. The proposed stoppages were called off pending the outcome of a full Labour Court hearing into the dispute, that hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3. The dispute centres around the implementation of a job evaluation scheme and pay related issues.

The news of the deferral of industrial action will be welcomed by patients in Cavan as further disruption to appointments may be avoided. Earlier this week hospital support staff in Cavan general took part in a one day strike.
