Water supply in Cavan Town restored

The water mains leak that hampered supply to Main Street households and businesses was repaired overnight.

A major leak was discovered on the Cock Hill area of Cavan Town on Tuesday, which saw Cavan County Council crews work throughout the night to identify the fault. Whilst repair work was conducted on Wednesday a water tanker was made available at the Main Street Car Park. Water drums were also distributed to affected premises.

Cavan County Council, operating on behalf of Irish Water, apologised “for any inconvenience”.

A council spokesperson explained this morning: “The major mains water leak in Cavan Town was repaired overnight and supply has been restored. CCC crews are continuing to monitor the pressure levels this morning.”
