Man suffers 'serious leg injuries' in crash

 

The driver of a car involved in a crash with a lorry on the N3 between Cavan Town and Belturbet late yesterday evening.

The crash on the N3 at Drumsilla, just north of Butlersbridge, occurred shortly after 5pm on Wednesday, February 12.

Gardaí and Emergency Services were called to the scene.

Included in that was two units of the local fire service made up of three appliances, and two ambulances.

The road was closed for a period after to facilitate the removal of the crashed vehicles.

The driver of the car suffered what have been described as "serious leg injuries".

 

Diversions were put in place, closing the road from the Staghall Roundabout in Belturbet to the junction from the N3 into Butlersbridge village via the N54 and Gannon's Cross.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana confirmed: “Gardaí and Emergency Services were called to the scene of a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a car that occurred at approximately 5.15pm on Wednesday 12th February 2020 at Butlersbridge, Cavan.”

They added: “The male driver of the car received serious leg injuries and was taken to Cavan General Hospital. The road has since fully re-opened.”
