My School vote is closed
Voting is now closed and the votes are being counted to decide the winner for the 'My School\ competition and see who will claim the top prize of a €1,000 voucher from Hayes Expert in Cavan town. The call went out to about 20 secondary schools in the region to take up the My School challenge and generate the content for a half page in the newspaper. A total of ten schools participated in the competition and students got the opportunity to come into The Anglo-Celt newsroom, edit their photos and stories and give their input in terms of how the page was designed and laid out.
Here are the finished products - as already published in The Anglo-Celt between October 2011, and February, 2012.
Votes on here will count for 50% of the total mark. Coupons were available in previous week's papers and will also be included as part of that total. The remaining 50% will be decided by the news team in The Anglo-Celt.
The pages are being judged on content, presentation and how well the students married the concepts of portraying what's going on in their schools, while engaging in some real journalism.
A special thanks to our sponsors Hayes Expert, who are keen to support education in the community.
Voting has closed since noon on Friday, March 16th with the winners revealed in the following week's issue in The Anglo-Celt.
