Gaelic football legend Eugene McGee has died
Eugene McGee, who managed Offaly to the 1982 All-Ireland SFC title and later managed the Cavan senior football team, has died.
A native of Aughnacliffe, Co Longford, McGee, who was in his late 70s, was a hugely-respected figure in GAA circles nationwide.
McGee was formerly the Managing Editor of the Longford Leader and the Cavan Leader and wrote a popular Gaelic football column with the Irish Independent for many years.
It is understood that he took ill after a family function yesterday. He is survived by his wife Marian and children Conor and Linda.
