ACFL ROUND-UP: Killinkere promoted to Division 1

The stage is set for the semi-finals and promotion and relegation play-offs following the conclusion of today’s All-County Football League group stages.

Killinkere, last year’s beaten Junior Championship finalists, have secured their return to the top flight after a strong second-half showing saw them defeat Knockbride by five points.

The winners were a point up at half-time, having seen Knockbride manager Larry Reilly come on in goals and save Darren Smith’s penalty, but some excellent second-half points from the likes of Emmett Fitzsimons and Jason McMahon saw them over the line.

Meanwhile, Ballymachugh will return to Division 2 following their victory over Munterconnaught.

The Division 1 semi-finals next Wednesday see Ramor United take on Cavan Gaels and Gowna facing Castlerahan.
