Shercock and Annalee share spoils in the rain

The County Track and Field Championships took place on Monday May 4 in the environs of Claremont Stadium, Navan. With a large programme to get through exciting tussles and close finishes was the order of the day. However tough weather conditions made it difficult for both athletes and the large contingent of officials who selflessly got on with their jobs undeterred. Conditions made it particularly tough for field event athletes, however Shercock"s Paul Smith made light of the conditions winning the men"s long jump with a new PB and more importantly a new county record of 7.15 metres.s. Other impressive performances came from the likes of Innyvale"s Donal Briody, Thomas Jordan and Geraldine Sheridan, Bailieborough"s Colin and Niall Comey, Annalee"s Darren Watters, Andrew Creamer and Lauren Sexton and the Shercock trio of Barbara Ward and Celine and Niall Clerkin. When the overall results were added, Shercock were victors of the Dr. Quinn Senior Championships, while Annalee won the Masters section.
