Long may Summer Solstice Festival shine!

Sunday was the longest day of the year, and, at the advice of Cavan Chamber, people turned out in their hundreds to milk Cavan Summer Solstice Festival for all it was worth! There was a packed programme of events in the county town, ranging from family fun to evening entertainment. Market Square took centre stage for some events with a "gig on a rig" there on Friday and Sunday and a marquee full of magical entertainment on Saturday. Other venues included the Radisson SAS Farnham Estate Hotel, Cavan Town Hall (which celebrates 100 years), Abbeyset, the Old Abbey grounds and most pubs and night-clubs in the town centre. The busking competition was won by Ferdia and Michael O"Brien, with Mustangs Buskers and Shane Brennan coming second and third respectively. Patricia Aiken and her children Ciara and Megan won the Fancy Dress. The ever brilliant Blue Valentine"s Tom Waits Night and lots of other events (some featured here) captured the imagination.
