Special screening of Gasland

"Everybody who has seen the documentary is saying we will literally have to move out of our areas if this [fracking] comes in - that's how bad it is," warned campaigner Mary Rose Geoghegan. Campaigners against Tamboran and LANGCO's gas drilling plans are rushing to screen the award winning film Gasland in Blacklion/Belcoo in the coming weeks. Josh Fox's documentary explores the side effects of the controversial technique of 'hydraulic facturing' and gives an insight into the lives of communities living next to gas wells. The film has been derided by many amongst the major gas companies and vehemently defended by campaigners. "When you see this documentary it's the personal message - you can see at face value the damage," said Mary Rose. "It gives a huge insight into what we can expect if this goes through. And nobody, but nobody wants this." When asked by The Anglo-Celt if he was sick of discussing Gasland, Tamboran CEO, Richard Moorman gave the surprising response: "No not at all because in the US they are in denial and the rest of the world is in shock, so I'm happy to be somewhere in between." He explained that he views the problems experienced in those American communities as easily avoided by taking inexpensive precautions and vows his company will not make the same errors. Gasland will be screened in the week commencing Monday, July 25 in Blacklion/Belcoo. Full info will appear on www.cinemanorthwest.com later this week
