Tyre slasher strikes in Cavan Town

While it was peaceful weekend on the crime front in Cavan Town, one new type of wanton vandalism did surface in the Athbara and Church Street area in the early hours of Saturday night. Owners of five cars awoke on Sunday morning to discover that their tyres were slashed. The tyre slasher cut four tyres on one car and one each on the other four cars, which were parked in either car parks or private areas. The tyres were all slashed with a very sharp bladed instrument, and the total cost of this spree of mindless vandalism is significant.
