The popular DB Cycle Club's charity annual event takes place this weekend, and organisers are hoping to repeat the great success of last year.

On Saturday, July 20 the cycle will commence from The Stray Sod, Drung with 100km and 50km routes available.

'Our aim this year is to have 100 cyclists taking part in the event,' enthused one of the organisers, Martin O'Reilly.

Proof of the success of last year's 100km charity cycle was given last June when the cyclists presented cheques - each worth a whopping €2650 - to Barnardos and the Cavan branch of the Irish Kidney Association.

DB Cycle Club are one of only four official cycle clubs in County Cavan, along with Breffni Wheelers, Virginia Triathlon and Cycle Club, and Smugglers Cycle Club.
