Missing man Gerard Tierney.

Appeal for missing Smithboro man

Gardai have repeated their appeal for information as they continue to search a man missing from his Smithboro home almost a week ago.
Gerard Tierney (40) was last seen leaving his home at Kilcorran, Smithboro, at 8pm on Thursday evening last week, August 29. He is understood to have travelled on foot and with little else known of his movements the authorities have been attempting to trace his whereabouts since.
Of slight build, 5’6” (1.68m) in height and with short fair hear, Mr Tierney was wearing dark trousers and a dark coloured polo shirt when he was last seen.
Gardai say there is serious concern for Gerard’s welfare and they are very anxious to hear from anyone who might be able to help find him.
Gardai in the Cavan-Monaghan district were carrying out searches in the Kilcorran area at the weekend and have conducted some door-to-door enquiries. They also are asking all home- and land-owners in the Smithboro and surrounding areas to check their lands and outhouses.
Anyone who might have any information is being asked to immediately contact the station in Monaghan on (047) 77200.
